    Major Responsibilities

    The Executive Director is the key management leader of NSMA. The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs and strategic plan of the organization. Other key duties include membership development, advocacy, marketing, and community outreach. The position works with the NSMA’s leadership, including the Council and NSMA President to ensure the success of the organization.  The ED manages the non-profit association by hiring and overseeing staff, ensuring good fiscal oversight over budget and financials, acting as spokesperson for the organization and implementing strategic initiatives as outlined by the Council including government affairs activities and other initiatives that support the overall mission of the organization and to enhance membership and membership value within the organization.

    NSMA Staff/Operations:       

    The Executive Director is responsible for ensuring appropriate staffing pursuant to budget and needs of the Association.

    The ED ensures an efficient and positive work environment for NSMA staff, and that staff has appropriate duties and

    training. The position supports the needs of the NSMA Executive Committee, Council (Board of Directors), standing Commissions, the NSMA House of Delegates through ensuring a successful annual meeting of the House of Delegates and resolution process and ad hoc committees.

    Membership:

    NSMA is a member-driven organization.  The ED is responsible for delivering benefits to members and promoting the value of membership to prospective members. The position is responsible for providing effective communication with NSMA membership on relevant issues through NSMA publications, NSMA internet site; periodic reports on legislative and governmental activities; periodic reports at meetings of county/local societies and related groups; and, timely updates on relevant issues. 

    Spokesperson:

    The ED acts as a spokesperson for NSMA and, in collaboration with the Council and other physician leadership, represent the NSMA in the media and public settings.  The ED should look to promote the profile of the Association with community partners and public bodies.

    Advocacy:

    The Executive Director organizes and directs the implementation of NSMA Federal and State Legislative and other

    governmental priorities by working with the contract lobby team and Legislative core group to identify and lobby key issues of important to the Association.  The ED engages in lobbying and advocacy work at the state level, including the Nevada legislature, Governor and Administrative branch and regulatory bodies.  When appropriate, the ED, working with the contract lobby team, testifies or organizes testimony, draft position statements, letters, and other materials necessary to ensure effective articulation of the Association’s position. The ED also negotiates on behalf of the NSMA with regular communication to the Association’s leadership.  The ED oversees the Political Action Committee, candidate interviews and works with the PAC to complete the endorsement and contribution process.

    The ED is also NSMA’s representative on federal matters working with the Government Affairs Commission, the American Medical Association and other stakeholders.

    The position requires working cooperatively with other relevant stakeholders, including health professional associations, health care facility representatives, patient advocacy organizations and health-related coalitions to build consensus and further the Association’s agenda. The position also serves as the principle liaison for NSMA with State legislators and staff, State Executive branch officials, the Nevada Congressional delegation and staff and counterparts in other non-governmental organizations.

    The ED is responsible for other duties as assigned by the Council and NSMA President.

    Qualifications

    The ideal candidate should share the mission of the NSMA to promote high quality healthcare in Nevada and advocate for physicians and patients. 

    The ideal candidate will have the following experience and knowledge:

    • A bachelor’s degree.
    • Transparent and high integrity leadership.
    • Five or more years senior nonprofit management experience or other relevant experience.
    • Experience and skill in working with Board and Commissions.
    • High level strategic thinking and planning. Ability to envision and convey the organization’s strategic future to the staff, board, volunteers and donors.
    • Ability to effectively communicate the organization’s mission to potential members, sponsors, volunteers and the community.
    • Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff, including competence in HR matters.
    • A history of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial results.
    • Previous success in establishing relationships with individuals and organizations of influence including funders, partner agencies and volunteers.
    • Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation.
    • Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting.
    • Competence in technology including QuickBooks, Excel, and Client Record Management Systems (Weblinks)
    • Strong written and oral communication skills.
    • Strong public speaking ability.
    • Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy.
    • Flexibility to travel within Nevada or domestically as needed, including attending Legislative Sessions in Carson City.

    Nevada Advanced Pain Specialists treats patients suffering from chronic pain. Chronic pain treatment often encompasses a wide range of interventions including behavioral health treatment as pain can often impact a person’s quality of life.

    Description

    We are looking for a licensed clinical social worker who has experience in treating individuals with co-occurring disorders and who will be a good fit with our team of dedicated providers.

    Responsibilities

    The staff social worker has experience working with dual diagnosis clients. The social worker applies advanced professional psychological diagnostic methods and evidence-based intervention strategies to a full range of patient problems in his/her work setting. S/he has advanced knowledge of psychological diagnosis, intervention, and behavioral health that qualifies him/her to provide advice and consultation to professionals representing a variety of disciplines.

    The primary job functions of social workers at this level include the provision of direct psychological patient care/treatment and consultation services on difficult or complex cases.

    Provides a full range of pain management psychosocial assessments and treatment services, using individual and group modalities, and using evidence-based psychotherapies as available and applicable. Develops, implements, and documents the psychotherapeutic treatment recommendations for patients, including prompt completion of clinical assessments and treatment plans. Makes referrals as needed to outside mental health and/or addiction treatment programs. Assists other providers in crisis intervention and completes suicide assessments as needed.

    Has knowledge of opioid use and addiction.

    Requirements

    Must have a Master's degree and hold a clinical license.
